(Тропар Воскресний - Голос 1)  Хоч камінь запечатали юдеї, і воїни стерегли Пречисте Тіло Твоє, воскрес Ти на третій день, Спасе, даруючи світові життя.  Ради цього Сили Небесні взивали до Тебе, Життєдавче: Слава Воскресінню Твоєму, Христе, слава Царству Твоєму, слава провидінню Твоєму, Єдиний Чоловіколюбче.

(Тропар Святим - Голос 8)  Як красний плід Твого спасительного сіяння, земля наша приносить Тобі, Господи, всіх святих, що в ній просіяли.  Їхніми молитвами в мирі глибокому Церкву й землю нашу Богородицею збережи, Многомилостивий.

Слава Отцю, і Сину, і Святому Духові.

(Кондак Воскресний – Голос 1)  Воскрес єси, як Бог із гробу у славі, і світ із Собою воскресив, людське єство, як Бога, оспівує Тебе, і смерть щезла.  Адам же торжествує, Владико, і Єва нині, з неволі визволяючись, радується, взиваючи: Ти єси Христе, Той, що всім подаєш воскресіння.

(Кондак Святим - Голос 3)  Сьогодні хор святих, що в землі нашій Богу угодили, предстоїть у Церкві й невидимо за нас молиться Богу.  Ангели з ним Славословлять, і всі святі Церкви Христової разом з ним святкують, бо вони всі разом за нас молять Предвічного Бога.

І нині, і повсякчас, і на віки віків.  Амінь.

(Богородичний - Голос 6-ий)  Заступнице християн усердная, молитвенниця до Творця надійная, не зневаж молитви грішників, але прйди швидше, як Благая, на поміч нам, що з взиваємо до Тебе: Поспіши на молитву і скоро прийди на благання, бо Ти заступаєшся завжди за тих, що шанують Тебе, Богородице.

(Прокимен Воскресний - Голос 1)  Милість Твоя, Господи, хай буде над нами, бо уповаємо на Тебе.

Стих:  Радуйтеся, праведні, в Господі, праведним належиться похвала.

Апостол

(Рим. 2:10-16)  Браття...  Слава, і честь, і мир усякому, хто чинить добре, юдеєві ж перше та гелленові.  Бо не дивиться Бог на обличчя!  Котрі бо згрішили без Закону, без Закону й загинуть, а котрі згрішили в Законі, приймуть суд за Законом.  Бо не слухачі Закону справедливі перед Богом, але виконавці Закону виправдані будуть.  Бо коли погани, що не мають Закону, з природи чинять законне, вони, не мавши Закону, самі собі Закон, що виявляють діло Закону, написане в серцях своїх, як свідчить їм сумління та їхні думки, що то осуджують, то виправдують одна одну, дня, коли Бог, згідно з моїм благовістям, буде судити таємні речі людей через Ісуса Христа.

(Євр. 11:33-12:2)  Браття...  Вірою царства побивали, правду чинили, одержували обітниці, пащі левам загороджували, силу огненну гасили, утікали від вістря меча, зміцнялись від слабости, хоробрі були на війні, обертали в розтіч полки чужоземців; жінки діставали померлих своїх із воскресіння; а інші бували скатовані, не прийнявши визволення, щоб отримати краще воскресіння; а інші дізнали наруги та рани, а також кайдани й в'язниці.  Камінням побиті бували, допитувані, перепилювані, умирали, зарубані мечем, тинялися в овечих та козячих шкурах, збідовані, засумовані, витерпілі.  Ті, що світ не вартий був їх, тинялися по пустинях та горах, і по печерах та проваллях земних.  І всі вони, одержавши засвідчення вірою, обітниці не прийняли, бо Бог передбачив щось краще про нас, щоб вони не без нас досконалість одержали.  Тож і ми, мавши навколо себе велику таку хмару свідків, скиньмо всякий тягар та гріх, що обплутує нас, та й біжім з терпеливістю до боротьби, яка перед нами, дивлячись на Ісуса, на Начальника й Виконавця віри, що замість радости, яка була перед Ним, перетерпів хреста, не звертавши уваги на сором, і сів по правиці престолу Божого.

(Алилуя ­ Голос 1)  Бог відплату дає за мене, і покорив мені народи.

Стих:  Він величає спасіння Свого царя, і творить милість помазанникові Давиду і родові його довіку.

Євангелія

(Мт. 4:18-23)  Як проходив же Він поблизу Галілейського моря, то побачив двох братів: Симона, що зветься Петром, та Андрія, його брата, що невода в море закидали, бо рибалки були.  І Він каже до них: Ідіть за Мною, Я зроблю вас ловцями людей!  І вони зараз покинули сіті, та й пішли вслід за Ним.  І, далі пішовши звідти, Він побачив двох інших братів, Зеведеєвого сина Якова та Івана, його брата, із Зеведеєм, їхнім батьком, що лагодили свого невода в човні, і покликав Він їх.  Вони зараз залишили човна та батька свого, та й пішли вслід за Ним.  І ходив Він по всій Галілеї, по їхніх синагогах навчаючи, та Євангелію Царства проповідуючи, і вздоровлюючи всяку недугу, і всяку неміч між людьми. 

(Mт. 4:25-5:12)   І багато людей ішло за Ним і з Галілеї, і з Десятимістя, і з Єрусалиму, і з Юдеї, і з Зайордання.  І, побачивши натовп, Він вийшов на гору.  А як сів, підійшли Його учні до Нього. І, відкривши уста Свої, Він навчати їх став, промовляючи: Блаженні вбогі духом, бо їхнєє Царство Небесне. Блаженні засмучені, бо вони будуть утішені.  Блаженні лагідні, бо землю вспадкують вони.  Блаженні голодні та спрагнені правди, бо вони нагодовані будуть.  Блаженні милостиві, бо помилувані вони будуть.  Блаженні чисті серцем, бо вони будуть бачити Бога.  Блаженні миротворці, бо вони синами Божими стануть.  Блаженні вигнані за правду, бо їхнє Царство Небесне. Блаженні ви, як ганьбити та гнати вас будуть, і будуть облудно на вас наговорювати всяке слово лихе ради Мене.  Радійте та веселіться, нагорода бо ваша велика на небесах!  Бо так гнали й пророків, що були перед вами.

(Причасний)  Хваліть Господа з небес, хваліть Його в вишніх.

SUNDAY OF ALL SAINTS OF THE LAND OF RUS’-UKRAINE

(Saint Tikhon, Bishop of Cyprus.  Tone 1.  Epistle:  Rom. 2:10-16 & Heb. 11:33-12:2.  Gospel: Mt. 4:18-23 & Mt. 4: 25-5:12.)

(Tropar of the Resurrection – Tone 1)  When the stone had been sealed by the Jews, and the soldiers were guarding Your Most Pure Body, You arose on the third day, O Saviour, granting life to the world.  Therefore, the Powers of Heaven cried out to You, O Giver of Life: Glory to Your Resurrection, O Christ, glory to Your Kingdom, glory to Your Providence, O Only Lover of Mankind.

(Tropar of the Saints – Tone 8)  As beautiful fruit of Your salvic sowing, our land offers to You, Lord, all the Saints glorified in it.  By their prayers and the prayers of the Theotokos keep our Church and people in profound peace, O Greatly-merciful One.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

(Kondak of the Resurrection – Tone 1)  As God, You arose from the tomb in glory, raising the world together with Yourself.  Human nature praises You as God, for death has vanished.  Adam exults, O Master.  Eve rejoices, for she is freed from bondage and cries out: You, O Christ, are the One Who gives resurrection to all.

(Kondak to the Saints – Tone 3)  Today the choir of saints who pleased God in our land, stands before us in Church and invisibly prays to God for us.  The angels, together with them sing praises, and all the saints of the Church of Christ celebrate with them, for together they all pray to the Eternal God for us.

Both now, and ever, and unto the ages of ages.  Amen.

(Theotokion - Tone 6)  O Protection of Christians that cannot be put to shame, unchanging mediation unto the Creator, do not despise the suppliant voices of sinners, but be quick to come to our aid, O Good One, who in faith cry out to You, O Theotokos, always protect those who honour You. 

(Prokeimen of the Resurrection – Tone 1)  Let Your mercy, Lord, be upon us as we have put our hope in You.

Verse:  Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous.  Praise befits the upright.

Epistle

(Rom. 2:10-16)  Brethren…  Glory and honor and peace for every one who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek.  For God shows no partiality.  All who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.  For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.  When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.  They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.

(Heb.. 11:33-12:2)  Brethren…  Тhrough faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.  Women received their dead by resurrection.  Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life.  Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment.  They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated - of whom the world was not worthy - wandering over deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.  And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.    Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

(Alleluia Verses - Tone 1)  God avenges me and has subdued peoples under me.

Verse:  He magnifies the salvation of the king and deals mercifully for His anointed, for David and for his seed forever.

Gospel

(Mt. 4:18-23)  As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.  And he said to them: Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.  Immediately they left their nets and followed him.  And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.  Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him.  And he went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every infirmity among the people. 

(Mt. 4:25-5:12)  Great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.  Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down his disciples came to him.  And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.  Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.  Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.  Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.  Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.  Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.  Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.

FUNDRAISER FOR JONATHON

On behalf of Jonathon Silvernagle, his family, and the organizing committee, we would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for your generous donation towards his fundraiser.  A successful fundraiser was held at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cultural Centre, 404 Meredith Road NE, Calgary, on Saturday, March 1st in honour of Jonathon.

Special thanks to Father Taras Krochak and family, UWAC, TYC, Parish Council, CYMK, and the parishioners for your encouragement, prayers and Christian love. Special thanks to those from St. Vladimir’s who worked so hard to ensure the fundraiser was successful.

The money raised is being used to purchase items and provide the necessary support  for Jonathon to function independently and to improve his quality of life.  All proceeds were invested in the trust fund established with BMO Nesbitt Burns.  Appointed guardians of the trust fund will ensure accountability and responsible management of all donations.

At the present time, Jonathon is receiving intensive medical / rehabilitation treatment at the Brain Injury Clinic in Ponoka, Alberta.  This outstanding program provides individuals, with brain injury, the opportunity to develop independence to their potential and we are hopeful that Jonathon will make major strides during his stay.

We continue to ask for your prayers for Jonathon’s recovery and again sincerely thank you for the contribution you have made to this young man.

(Продовҗення)  1. Відсутність волі людини у вирішенні своєї долі

Індивідууми, народи і цивілізації з`являються на світ, ростуть і терплять крах нібито в залежності від рухів і взаємного розташування світил. У цій фаталістичній, безособовій системі сил і впливів немає місця для принципу свобідної волі. Воля людини, на думку астрологів, — лише ілюзія. Багато хто і астрологів бачать і розуміють цю проблему і намагаються справитися з нею, заявляючи, що людина, що довідалася свою „космічну долю“ за допомогою астрологічних спостережень, може використовувати отримані знання і змінити своє майбутнє.

Астрологи хапаються за цей аргумент, намагаючись зберегти в собі почуття „володаря своєї долі“, але, строго говорячи, така точка зору вступає в протиріччя з основними положеннями астрології. З іншого боку, астрологи часто використовують принцип космічної зумовленості, щоб зняти із себе відповідальність за своє, часто аморальне, поводження.

2. Проблема пояснення доль близнюків.

Ще одна неподолана проблема для астрологів - це проблема пояснення розбіжності життєвих доріг близнюків. Дійсно, астрологія не в силах справитися з проблемою близнюків. Близнюки мають той самий гороскоп (різниця між часом їхнього народження може бути менше чотирьох хвилин), але долі близнюків часто виявляються дуже несхожими і навіть протилежними. Відомо, що однояйцеві близнюки крім разючої зовнішньої подібності звичайно мають схожі характери і схильності, піддані однаковим хворобам і часто навіть умирають незадовго друг за другом (мова, звичайно, ж, йде про природну смерть). Уже в античності природничонаукове пояснення цьому явищу дав Гіппократ: на близнюків однаково впливає здоров`я і склад харчування матері під час вагітності і годівлі і вони виховуються в однакових умовах. Крім того, як ми тепер знаємо, однояйцеві близнюки мають ідентичну генетичну програму. Однаковий психотип близнюків буває причиною того, що часто вони обирають ту саму професію. Однак відомі приклади, коли життєві шляхи навіть і однояйцевих близнюків, розлучених у дитинстві, складалися по-різному. І вже зовсім ніякої подібності не знайти між „астральними близнюками“, тобто людьми, що з`явилися на світ від різних батьків, але одночасно у тому самому місці. У своїй знаменитій книзі „Сповідь“ великий всесвітній учитель Церкви Христової Блаженний Августин, ще до свого навернення в християнство теж захоплювався пророкуваннями доль людських по зірках, переконливо показує неспроможність цієї науки на прикладі старозавітних братів - близнюків Ісава і Якова. Обоє вони з`явилися на світ при тому самому розташуванні сузір`їв, але доля їх, неоднакова. „Ти, Господи, найвищий і правосудний Правитель Всесвіту, - пише Бл. Августин, підводячи підсумок своїх міркувань про астрологію, - дієш незбагненними для нас шляхами, без відома і питаючих, і відповідаючих, так що якщо хто запитує про свою долю, то згідно зі своїми внутрішніми заслугами одержує ту, а не інша відповідь, із глибини праведного суду Твого, якого людина не може заперечити: що це? Чи: до чого це? Так, не може, не може, тому що вона людина.46 Американський учений Гоклен вивчив також більш 50 000 гороскопів, багато з яких були складені для астроблизнюків, щоб знайти доказ „паралельності“ їхніх життів.  (Далі буде) 

THE APOSTLES FAST - THE FORGOTTEN FAST

Every orthodox Christian is aware of the importance of fasting.  Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself spoke frequently of self-denial as a means of preparing ourselves totally for accepting the will of God.  Certainly we all recall how our Savi
