St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Congregation

The Southern Alberta Mission Project

About the Project

The Southern Alberta Mission Project was initially started in 2001 with the Ordination of Rev. Fr. Patrick Powalinsky, under St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Congregation in Calgary.  Initially it served Lethbridge, Red Deer, Oyen and Cranbrook BC (a new mission congregation started because of the program.  The mission was taken over by the Orthodox Church of America (OCA), when the Southern Alberta Mission Project was on hiatus.).

Currently, because of the program, Holy Trinity in Lethbridge and Holy Trinity Mission in Red Deer are growing at a remarkable rate (mainly attributed to the project).  Membership to date in Red Deer has more than doubled in the last year!  With the project, these congregations hope to grow to a point where they can support their own priests.
